Hobbs Rehabilitation hosts #MINT19 at Bristol (Upper Limb Rehabilitation)

Following the success of the Masterclass in Neuro Technology (MINT) event in October of last year, we have responded to requests for smaller, more focused events throughout the UK. In Bristol on the 9th March 2019, we will hosting our second MINT event, with a focus on the use and clinical application of upper limb rehabilitation devices. The event will consist of introductory presentations, followed by 2 patient masterclass workshops, each lasting for 1.5 hours. These workshops will combine technology, a patient with a device expert and a specialist therapist, and will feature Tyrosolution technology: Amadeo, Diego, Myro, Pablo and Tymo. These devices are either robotic, de-weighting or sensor-based rehabilitation systems that can be used singularly or in combination (e.g. Diego de-weighting with the Pablo sensor-system).

To find out more about the event or to book your place, please visit the Eventbrite page here.

Hobbs Rehabilitation hosts the second UK Parkinson's Boot Camp

Back by popular demand, the second "Living Well with Parkinson's" PD Boot Camp will be held over a 1 week intensive course for those newly diagnosed as well as those in the early stages of the disease, who want to slow the progression of symptoms through a therapeutic approach.

The course will run from 25th February to 1st March in Winchester and will be held in partnership with the Parkinson's Me charity. The aim of the intensive course is to target specific problems whilst educating participants with an interactive program of discussions, classes and workshops, lead by a team of specialist rehabilitation professionals.

Parkinson's UK will be funding the first £100 of £500 for each participant, thus the price for each participant to book is £400. Booking is available now, by telephone on 01962 779796 or email treatment@hobbsrehabilitation.co.uk. Further details can also be found on the PD Boot Camp leaflet here.

Feedback from 2018 course:

"Overall this has been excellent. I now see PD as a complex issue that needs to be attacked on lots of levels with a positive approach!"

New HELPHampshire Clinic initiative launched

Last week, @drjamesfaulkner and team celebrated the launch of HELPHampshire, a stroke clinic based in Hampshire helping stroke survivors return to exercise.

Health experts at the University of Winchester have set up a new community clinic to help improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of stroke victims through exercise and education. Specialist neurological physiotherapists from Hobbs Rehabilitation will be supporting the screening assessments and will also deliver some of the exercise classes out in the community.

The Health Enhancing Lifestyle Programme (HELP) Hampshire Stroke Clinic will work with stroke survivors to help them find new forms of exercise that might suit them and will also run exercise sessions in-house. By helping stroke survivors to return to exercise, the clinic aims to improve their motor and sensory skills, promote their independence and raise their quality of life more broadly. The clinic opens in March 2019.

The not-for-profit HELP Hampshire clinic will build on research carried out by Winchester academic Dr James Faulkner, who is the HELP Hampshire Programme Lead and an exercise physiologist, to provide tailored treatment to each patient.
