Hobbs at Bristol
Hobbs at Bristol is a new upper limb clinic for intensive specialised neurological rehabilitation.
The service offers a combination of hands-on neurological physiotherapy and a range of robotics, up to 4 hours of bespoke therapy programmes per day, and functional improvements in everyday tasks via increased dosage in a fun, engaging and meaningful environment.
The comprehensive programmes are led by neurological physiotherapists experienced in the treatment of upper limb trauma caused by brain injury and the following:
- Spinal cord injury
- Multiple sclerosis
- Multi-trauma, musculoskeletal injury
"One of the key ways that robotics helps us is by giving you the input necessary to maximise your potential for lasting change."
A major principle in rehabilitation is that task practice results in skill acquisition. Research shows that more therapy time produces better results and our Upper Limb Intensive Rehab service provides bespoke packages designed to maximise potential and work towards patient-orientated goals.
It has been demonstrated that there is an optimum number of reps necessary to facilitate a lasting change in neuroplasticity. It is a challenge to achieve this via the standard provision of 1 hour of therapy and home exercises; our service meets these challenges.
