What is the Fesia Walk?
An innovative new system that combines drop foot and calf stimulation with a cutting edge electrode array to control movements of the ankle. It is a neat cuff-based solution which uses motion detection in a bluetooth foor sensor to trigger stimulation.
How does it work?
The device incorporates innovative technology to deliver two channels of stimulation; drop foot and suport of calf activation for push off. It is unique in using a quick fix magnetic attachment for the cuff rather than a hook type strap, making application easy. Like the Bioness, it uses advanced motion detection to trigger stimulation at the correct point in the gait cycle. The motion detector is positioned in the foot rather than the cuff itself.
The key difference with this device is the use of a single electrode which contains an array of small mini electrodes. This means that the clinician can change the stimulation effect on the nerves without having to move the electrode on the leg as is necessary with all other commercial devices.
Like the Bioness, the Fesia Walk can be adjusted using a phone app.
Who can benefit from using it?
Fesia Walk is for people who suffer from drop foot as a result of:
- Stroke (CVA)
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury
- Cerebral Palsy (CP)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Other injury of the central nervous system
