We specialise in complex neurological and trauma patients:

What we provide: specialist residential and outpatient neurological rehabilitation for adults and children. 
Access to over 70 clinicians experienced in:

  • Brain injury including management of physical, perceptual, cognitive and behavioural problems
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Multi-trauma, musculoskeletal injury 
  • Seating and complex postural management
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation (specialist team at Hobbs South East, Liss)
  • Developing and implementing behavioural training programmes
  • Working in conjunction with NHS services
  • Working with Solicitors and Case Managers including tribunal reports

Specialist Services:

  • Joint assessment with orthotist
  • Specialist hand therapy
  • Spasticity management service including toxin injections and splinting
  • Assessment and trials of the latest technologies available including a range of FES devices, FES bikes, bionic leg, Mollii Suit and robotic exoskeletons
  • Exercise classes and groups including balance and stroke groups, MS, PD groups including the new PD Warrior class 
  • Intensive treatment packages using Ekso Bionic or Rewalk
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Specialist OT skills including fatigue management, cognition and perceptual and memory treatment including assistive technology
  • Specialist SLT skills including Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, swallowing problems and cognitive communication difficulties such as Dysphasia
  • Intensive upper limb rehabilitation packages (residential or outpatient)

  • National contract with the RFU Injured Players Foundation for catastrophically injured players. These clients include spinal cord injury, stroke and head injured players
  • Partnership with Injured Jockeys Fund to provide specialist Neurological Rehabilitation at Oaksey House near Lambourn, Berkshire
  • Clinical lead for a Specialist Clinical Independent Rehabilitation Network (SCIRN). Working with the Police, Fire Brigade, Armed Services and Injured Jockey Fund, the group is sharing good practice for rehabilitation and writing clinical guidelines for best practice

Research Projects

Links with Winchester and Southampton universities: we are currently working with an American company to research the use of the AlterG Bionic Leg. A collaborative study with the NHS hopes to achieve NICE guidelines approval.  In addition we are designing a protocol for a PhD study for the EKSO bionics skeleton.

Innovation

  • Hobbs has one of the first GM EKSOBIONIC skeletons in the UK and has a fully trained team offering assessment and extensive treatment packages
  • Clinical lead for the AlterG Bionic Leg, a pioneering wearable robotic device, in the UK and Europe. We have completed a series of clinical case studies with excellent results and this work was presented at the National ACPIN Conference.  In conjunction with AlterG, Hobbs provides a national training service
